And if anyone's been wondering why the hell their membership requests have not been accepted in over a week, well, here's the culprit: That interior was no free lunch in TSM, I'll tell you that. -Kurt

Are you doing some Amtrak cars including a cab car? We could really use them on the Surfliner, for the 1990's trains.

Are you doing some Amtrak cars including a cab car? Nope, just the Comet III/IV body design. Horizon cars are a different breed of animal altogether - they don't look it, but they are. -Kurt

Amtrak didn't have any Horizon cab cars, only coaches and diners.
By the way Kurt, the IVs are looking unbelievable. The one shot of the interior looking through the car complete with seats is amazing. I actually emailed it to one of my non railfan co workers.... Let me know when you're ready for those Comet IV cab pics, LOL!

Hello Shaun,
Heh - I completely forgot that Amtrak's only cab-car equipment consists of the Surfliner equipment and ex-Metroliner cars.
Incidentally, is the line you work on a low-level or high-level platform line? The last Comet IV photos I am in need of are underbody shots.
Take care,
-Kurt

The lines are a mix of high and low, mostly high. But that doesn't really matter since a majority of the photos I've sent to you were taken while my trains have been in yards. Let me see what I can dig up in the next few days....

Are there going to be sliding door covers for the steps? On the IVs the door is one large continous piece that covers the entire opening. Its all or nothing....

On the IVs the door is one large continous piece that covers the entire opening. Its all or nothing.... Shaun, this is news to me. Is that to say that the whole door opens, with the trap down, on high-level platforms? From what I heard at Railroad.net, the lower section is separate, with a narrow retracting section at the section of the trap (left in the closed position on high-level platforms as not to cause too large a gap). Considering that these parts will be animated with the BIN door commands (and separate models made for high level and low-level operation), I want to get this right. Take care, -Kurt

Hey Kurt. My goof, too many Comets to keep track of. The IIIs and IVs have the seperate sliding bottom section. When the trap is down, it latches the bottom section in place. The IIMs and the Vs have the one piece door. On those the entire door opens, exposing the steps even on high level platforms. When the trap is down, that keeps a small sliding bar on the outside of the train to narrow the gap.
Its still raining here in Jersey, so hopefully when it clears up I can get some underbody shots.

That makes sense. One other thing - that sliding bar you mention - is that integral to the lower sliding door on the III's and IV's? -Kurt

The CIII and IV's dont have the sliding bar like the comet V. The CIII and IV's it's two piec's the top door open for high level and wen the trap door opens the other door slides open for the low level platforms.
