Q: I can read topics but I can't post! Why is this?
A: For security reasons, we require you to register before you post. Registering not only lets you post, but you can also access the private messaging system, allowing you to have off-forum conversations with your friends.
Q: How do I register?
A: Very simple! On the bar underneath the banner, there is a set of buttons. The last one on the right says "Register". Click it and fill in the form. In a short while, you'll get an email with your password.
Q: I've filled in the form, but I have not recieved an email! What do I do?
A: The ProBoards computer-generated response program may be flooded at the moment with signups for hundreds of ProBoards-hosted forums.
I'd expect a wait of 15 minutes, at the most. If you have not recieved your confirmation within that time, check and see if your email system has re-routed the email into your spam box.
What is a spam box you ask? Well, with the accelerating problem of spam flooding our inboxes, some Internet providers, such as AOL, have added a new "advanced spam blocker" to their list of features.
These spam blocking tools are commonly activated immediately when you install, or upgrade your Internet service. While these special "spam blocking" tools can be effective, they can also be too effective at times. Sometimes, a message board "sign up" confirmation email may be sent into your spam box without notice.
When signing up with the forum, you may want to temporarily disable your spam blocker, or empty your "spam box" before submitting your new user info.
You may also want to disable your spam blocker permanently, and make a "custom banned word list" instead, which will filter any email with those selected words to your spam box. I've found the custom word lists to work better then the spam filters in some cases.
Q: Can I change my password?
A: Yes! Just go to the bar at the top and click "Profile". There's an option which allows you to change your password.
Q: What are the "member groups" all about?
A: The member groups indicate how many posts you've made to the forum or if you're a moderator. (In other words, It's a lot of ego-related hooey).
Q: I feel there is something on the board that needs attention. Who should I ask for help?
A: You should contact the staff for help with the board itself. The staff currently consists of the current forum moderators - in other words - me. So, if you need to contact us, send me a private message. Remember, I am here to help.
I hope this FAQ clears up some of the problems encountered when using the forum. If anyone has a suggestion or two for the FAQ list, let me know!
