Hi everyone, As my very first contribution to KLW TrainSim, I modified two .SMS files by Ron Furto, to use Matt Florack's/MCLW's 710 series prime mover sound set. These .SMS files are appropriate for JJ Chaisson's GO Transit re-skin of Kurt's MP36 model. Let me tell you, Matt's 710 sounds are addictive! BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE MODIFYING THEM.- Extract the .SMS files to the SOUND folder of the locomotive of your choice.
- Open the .ENG file of your locomotive in WordPad
- Click on the binocular icon in WordPad and search for "sound"
- Change MP36eng.sms to MP40eng.sms, and change MP36cab.sms to MP40cab.sms.
- Save your modified .ENG file.
I hope this helps.

No, you open the file GOTRANS_602.eng and edit it. That's if you're using JJ Chaisson's GO Transit re-skin. The .ENG part I mentioned is the file extension.
If you had read my instructions carefully, the files you change aren't MP36.eng or .cab. They're MP36eng.sms and MP36cab.sms.
When you search for sound, WordPad should highlight the word "sound". The .sms file name is beside "sound" for both. So, MP36eng.sms would be beside "sound" and then you change that to MP40 instead of MP36.
Here, I'll show it to you how it would look like: Sound ( "MP36eng.sms" ) --> change to --> Sound ( "MP40eng.sms" )
Is that clearer???

You install the MCLW folder (i.e., "MC.SND") in the train folder. All the other MCLW sound folder go in that folder, or else the .SMS won't be able to find the bell and horn sounds.
Are you saying you modified the .SMS files? Why did you do that if they worked fine already?
