No kidding - it wasn't easy to map, and as you've found out, it isn't easy to skin either. Looks like your dynamic brake blister vent also has a trace of the MP's silver roof still left on it Beautiful job, nevertheless. When you wish to release it, feel free to upload it to the library (do tell me beforehand or after upload so I know it is there). Do alias the sounds and cab if possible. Take care, -Kurt

It's MP_ra2.ace. Hope that helps.
Has 3DTrains allowed forum-member reskins for their Bombardier cars yet?
Take care,

thanks, fixed that ACE file, i dont think 3dtrains has allowed any repainting to be released since they are a profit organization. but, i dont care, im just glad i have a Caltrain MP36 finally, i see them everyday, and cant run em just kills me . Once i get a couple more light modifications done, i will let you know so i can upload them, its going to be 923 925 and 927

I hear you on that, but usually payware groups allow distribution of the texture files only, minus the shape, such as SLI. Either that, or the group allows repaints to be distributed through their own in-house, purchaser-only forum downloads.
Just curious.
Take care,

Drew, curious - is that the Pacific Surfliner route? Can't seem to tell. Looks great, nevertheless.

ya it is, just outside of santa ana, would you like me to send ya a copy of 923 so u can test it out for yourself?

That is quite all right, Drew - I will wait until their final release. Nothing like two copies of the same locomotive to cause compatibility problems later on.
I've never had the Surfliner - to tell you the truth, from what I have seen of it, it is not particularly one of my favorite routes - seems rather barren, for the most part. I say this only as your photos had me stumped - the scenes looked to have more objects then I would have initially expected from that route.
(I wonder if any of that made sense?)
Take care,
-Kurt

Hey Drew,
Great work on the "Baby Bullet" cars, but may I make a suggestion?
As painstakingly as you might have done it, get rid of the rivets. The cars are welded-side cars.

Awesome repaints Drew! Hope to see more of your work as more commuter operations aquire these units. Have you considered the Metrolink or WCE? Maybe those or MP40s though, can't remember... in any case, great job.

Say Kurt, do you plan on making a fix for your lights on the MP36's? I saw some things a lil odd on it, First what you should do for the headlights OFF mode is have the headlights on dim, no other lights on. DIM have the Gyra light flashing and have the ditchlights flashing and BRIGHT have the Gyra light on and have the ditchlights constant. It's just be I'm sure but it kinda bugs me that there is no constant ditchlight mode. **Also try to make the light casting have the same effect as the lights as I saw when in dim mode the gyra light is on and there is no effect on the ground** Thanks

Also Drew, you do know that a guy by the name of Rick has been releasing some drivable versions of AI trains for the PSL, I think if you ask Marc he'll say yes to the release of Textures/ nessicary *ugh probably bad spelling* files.

Personally, I prefer the lighting as it is, but feel free to revise it to your liking. I do like your idea of gyralight "sphere of light" at the dim setting to match the main light, but I am not certain if the extra states of the light bog down the sim's light capacity during activities, hence why I played it safe with the lighting in the release. -Kurt

On the forums? None in my box. Did you send it to cudak888 or "admin"? Sent you an email - feel free to use that instead. P.S.: Looking good. Have you set it up so that the reverse markers are active when the unit is at the rear of the consist? -Kurt

Cool. I'm a Caltrain Engineer myself and I've never seen a more realistic MP36PH-3C than this! I have a small request. Could you make a JPBX 927 please?

As a matter of fact, it is a repaint of our Metra MP36PH-3S model - it isn't a genuine 3C, but it's as close as I have at the present time. No chance for a 3C anytime soon.

i have 923, 925 and 927 in the works, so 927 will be in the pack, and even thought it is a 3S, hopefully when i am done with it, it will be as close to a 3C as possible, it will just be a 3C with a K5 and a blacked out strobe...LOL. I have been working with Kurt on some minor details to make this the closest to a Caltrain MP36PH-3C as possible, after all i do see them everyday.

An MP36PH-3C has the same prime mover as the "-3S" model, the MPI 645F3B diesel engine, but with its HEP generated by a separate Caterpillar diesel engine, thus the "-3C" in its model name.

Might be so on the inside, but there is mucho difference between the 3C and the 3S on the outside - vents, length, chassis detail orientation, etc. -Kurt

You're right on most parts Kurt, except for the length.
The -3S's are the same length as the -3C's. And the MP40's, while we're at it.
The major differences are in the vents and roof detail at the end of the long hood. There are also some detail differences from railroad to railroad (Metra and their small plows, for example), but those are pretty minor by comparison.
I'm in the midst of redoing the physics for the MP36's. Hopefully I'll be able to send something to Kurt by Sunday.

Hmm. News to me, although I'm not surprised. Forgot where I heard that info, although I do remember it came from a source very early on during the release of the MP's a few years ago.
I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to the new physics; they will be a nice change from the originals.
P.S.: Feel free to change the size/color/unit settings of the lighting, but I'd appreciate it if the original light configuration for Off/Dim/Bright can be retained.
Take care,
-Kurt

@ Drewster, Great Paintjob! The matching Bombardier are petty nice too. I'm not personally a big fan of calamtrak, But i do love those surfliners and metrolink. I run the PacSurf route often in MSTS. Those would look at home there also. Where did You get that CalAmtrak set? it looks like the 3DT's set repainted.
@ Kurt, The PacSurf Route is a bit barren in some stretches, not all of it. as long as you stay in cab view you don't really notice it. Also, all the radio chatter and your conductors talking to You helps keep you in the cab. the biggest disappointment with the route was them screwing over everyone.

How do you get the Pacific Surfliner route? It look cool considering I live in California it's something I want to get. Where do you get it? Whats the web-site address? Freeware version to be released in good time at Train-Sim.com. Earlier version was payware, or more accurately, scamware - the developers of the content were never paid, most of the purchasers of the route never received it, and the fellow who was the cause of it all (Andrew was his name, if I recall correctly?) ran off and disappeared. 3D Trains has been most generous in putting together a well-priced payware package of the rolling stock they created for the route since, and have it available on their site, www.3dtrains.com. -Kurt
