If you've been following our releases over the last week, you have probably noticed a trend of our resurrecting old KLW favorites previously discontinued long ago. Likewise, if you've been following that trend (and our Discontinued Releases page), it shouldn't come as a surprise that we have brought back one of our personal favorites, our reskin of 3DTrains' F7A into Metra #305: While we didn't want to modify too much of the classic, original release, minor texture updates have been done, along with an updating of the model to 3DTrains' v2.0 shape, as opposed to the v1.33 version used in our original Metra reskin release. Additionally, the model comes with the original Metra bell sounds - edited to be less harsh then the original - from our first release, and a new Leslie A200 horn recording based on one of the many excellent recordings by 5 Chime Consultant's Evan Werkema. The new release requires (and I'm sure there is not a member here who would be adverse to downloading either) the new KLW F-Series Cabview v2.0 and either our original KLW 7-Series Sounds v1.0, or our latest v2.0 release (which is essentially a re-issue of the same). Hope you all enjoy. Take care, -Kurt KLW Train-Sim

Thanks for taking the time to "update" some of the classic "oldies". Sometimes, it seems, it can take as much ( or more ) effort to update something correctly than it takes to start new. I, for one, appreciate the effort. Really great looking loco there ( I confess I love F-units ).

Good ol' #305. For anyone that does not know, This unit has been re-built, preserved and is still running today at the Illinois Railway Museum. Built in November 1949, GM EMD F7A, EMD order number E1188A, builder's number 8569, as C&NW 4082C for freight service. In 1959 regeared from 62:15 (65 mph) to 57:20 (95 mph) and a 480 VAC Cummins Head-End-Power diesel generator set added, and assigned to Chicago suburban commuter service. Renumbered to C&NW 411 in December 1971. Sold to RTA (later Metra) on 31 December 1947 and leased back (the next day) to C&NW for commuter operation. Retired by RTA on 11 September 1983, but retained on the roster until donated to the Illinois Railway Museum in 1999 I have seen this unit in person both as 305 and after its transformation back into C&NW 411, Perhaps as RTA #305, But that would have been in revenue service a long time ago and would not remember. For some great shots of it's transformation see www.irm.org/gallery/cnw411paintprojThis looks reat and can wait to see it pulling some Bi-Levels arund in MSTS!
