It'll take a while, seeing that the GP49H-3 is in the pipe, but here's a peek at another NJ Transit unit I am working on: Although release is quite a long ways away, the entire fleet will be included. Take care, -Kurt

It may look good, but it is currently an un-merged mess. The front and rear pilot points are not joined to the main floorboard, and a portion of the rear floorboard is missing. Will be fixed in good time, of course. -Kurt

You would a have a nice start with that hood for an SD45 model. A project maybe for someday...

You would a have a nice start with that hood for an SD45 model. A project maybe for someday... I had made this hood originally for an SD45 model that never came to fruition. Doubt if I'll bother anytime soon with it, for before I can make the unit, I have to have trucks to go with it. That said, constructing satisfactory trucks (of any model) can take quite a while. -Kurt

Yeah I know. Thats why I never got into modeling. Looked like a headache to deal with, and I dont have the time or patience to go through with a project. But if you ever do make an SD45, get in touch with Ted Curphy. He has some good photoskinned Flexicoil trucks. His HTC trucks on the SD45-2 werent bad either (might be useful on a Metra F40C if you ever do that).

With no doubt in my mind, I know I'd end up designing the trucks myself. It takes just the right blend of modeling enough of the truck, worked together with just the right texture on top of it.
Case in point, it took about three tries (although I was not as skilled a modeler back then) to perfect a model for the Blombergs you see on my models now. I was also quite lucky to procure a particularly good texture to use (Thank you, Tristan!) as well.
I could possibly experiment with the textures from the MS v1.2 SD40-2, but at this point, I'm not about to try it. Too many things in the pipe at present.

The latest: Curious, has anyone made a Geep for the sim to this date at or exceeding this length? I can't seem to remember anything that looks quite this long ever hitting the sim... -Kurt

There's something about an untextured model (solid texturing off in TSM): -Kurt

Those Geep 40's look good. Was that a unique model to the NJT?

No. The GP40P was designed for SP and CNJ. Eventually passenger railroads began kitbashing GP40-2's into GP40PH-2's... NJT,Metro North and VRE all own them. When they are released, I will be painting them into MN and VRE and add them to our 3rd party paints.

Kurt- these models are awesome! Very well done to say the least.
I'm sure you've got tons of projects on the go, but no pun intended, have you ever considered doing a GO Transit GP40TC? Seeing all these amazing GP40 variations you're doing makes me want a 'TC all the more! It may be of interest, as Amtrak also operates these units (ex-GO), and has had them in different color schemes/road #s etc.. Just a thought. They'd also go great with some models of the "tin can" single-level GO cars, which MBTA used for a time, along with AMT of Montreal and Ontario Northland....
Many thanks for such high quality and unique models- keep up the great work!

Christer, I have considered the TC before, but I'd rather not.
I would like to begin working the Tri-Rail fleet after I finish the re-numbering of the GP40PH-2 units - if I went ahead with the TC's, I'd probably never get to the TRCX units (F40PHR, F40PHL-2, F40PH-2C, GP49H-3).
Take care,
-Kurt

Well fellows, have at it - she's released. Went into the library shortly after midnight. -Kurt Any plans to do an as-delivered CNJ GP40P? That's with the long end squared off. Also for the CNJ fans, the latest edition of the GP7 re-skin "Brit Kit" over at the T-S library includes a CNJ version, also with the long end squared off. Although I helped Dick with the research on that one, my reskinning skills are such that even I won't run them. I did try to do a NJDOT variation however, black with a wide stripe, if anyone wants to finish it. The GP7 with the square end could be used for B&M as well. David Carleton D. Carleton Rail Books

Southern Pacific had simular locomotives called GP40P-2. Could you release one of those some time? No GP40P variants, sorry. -Kurt
