Clear version of snow shot as on the main page: MP36's lined up at LaSalle Street Station #414 pulling out of LaSalle One of my favorite theme shots - behind a chainlink fence: Returning - the chainlink look gives me the city-railfan perspective, IMHO. Pulling into LaSalle with the MASW cabcar: Artsy shot at LaSalle: #401, the Ollie Tibbles unit, and #424 are standby: Looking at #424 through the cab of #414: In the cab of #414 at LaSalle: Take care, -Kurt

Excellent shot of the snow being moved!
Wonder what that would look like at night?
My best,

Excellent shot of the snow being moved! Wonder what that would look like at night? My best, Cats I thought it a rather invigorating shot as well - except for the fact that I had to do it in PSP7 - you'd think someone on the Kuju team would have taken into account that snow does pile up - and consequently makes a blizzard when met with a plow at 55mph. I can only guess what it would look like at night, but probably not as spectacular as daytime. If nothing else, we can hope that M$ will bother to implement it in MSTS2. Maybe. Take care, -Kurt

#182 is from MASW - you can download a version with a fictional MP36-derived scheme from their site. As I recall, John told me he was denied permission to release the standard scheme variant.

It's quite easy - add a new layer with partial transparency (value can be anything reasonably opaqe for now), then use the airbrush tool with the softest edge setting possible to splatter white over the entire rail surface. That done, adjust the transparency to match. Merge layers.
Next, do the same - with a smaller airbrush - around the lower edge of the consist - make the size of the airbrush smaller as you go down the consist. Apply the effect liberally up front with a wave-like motion from the plow, upwards and back down. Adjust transparency.
Now, pull the density level of the airbrush down, and apply some "freckled" edges to the tops of the snow waves. That done, merge this layer (and any other layers used for snow wave effects, excluding the first layer of snow) ONLY to itself.
Finally, use the retouch tool set to "smudge" to blur and brush the snow at the very front of the plow to the left and right. That will give you the effect of motion.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
-Kurt
